WHAT IS NOOGLUTYL?

Detailed overview

Nooglutyl (NSG, ONK-10, N-5-oxynicotinoyl-L-glutamic acid) is an experimental compound developed at the Pharmacology Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Moscow), structurally related to Picamilon. AMPA receptor positive allosteric modulator – with substantially stronger AMPA binding affinity than Noopept (PMID 21476267). Unique data: benzodiazepine-withdrawal anxiety reduction in animal models without touching the GABA system; preservation of post-trauma mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation (ATP-synthesis protection; PMID 9621180); anti-aging pro-cognitive effects in accelerated-aging models (PMID 18078032); enhanced neuroprotection when co-administered with Nimodipine. No human Phase data; rare on Western markets.

Safety

Side effects, stop signs, contraindications

Side effects · 6

  • Limited human safety data: profile based mainly on animal studies and anecdotes
  • Mild anxiety and restlessness reported anecdotally (glutamatergic/stimulating character)
  • Physical stimulation and overstimulation at higher doses (above ~20 mg)
  • Theoretical risk typical of AMPA-enhancing compounds: headache, increased neuronal excitability
  • Sleep disturbance and difficulty falling asleep if taken in late afternoon or evening
  • Long-term safety unknown; chronic adverse effects not characterized

Contraindications · 5

  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding: no safety data, avoid
  • Epilepsy or low seizure threshold: AMPA/glutamatergic enhancement may theoretically raise seizure risk
  • Anxiety disorders: the stimulating character may worsen symptoms
  • Combining with other glutamatergic or stimulant nootropics requires caution (additive overstimulation)
  • Not an approved drug, no human dosing standard; research chemical only, use is experimental

FAQ

FAQ

Nooglutyl is an experimental compound developed at a Russian research institute that strengthens one of the brain's excitatory signaling systems (the AMPA receptor), so it's studied as a plasticity enhancer, meaning something meant to support the brain's ability to learn and adapt. Based on the source, this is a purely research-stage, experimental substance with no broad, reliable human data available. In practice it's a lab compound, not an established, well-tested supplement.
