WHAT IS PHENYLPIRACETAM HYDRAZIDE?
Detailed overview
Phenylpiracetam hydrazide (fonturacetam hydrazide) is a racetam in which the amide group of phenylpiracetam is replaced by a hydrazide group on the 2-oxo-4-phenylpyrrolidinone scaffold. It was first reported in 1980 by a Russian research group screening pyrrolidinone anticonvulsants, and in rodent electroshock models it showed anticonvulsant activity with an ED50 near 310 mg/kg. The hydrazide itself has essentially no dedicated peer-reviewed pharmacology; any nootropic or dopaminergic effect is inferred from the parent compound rather than measured. It is not an approved medicine anywhere and is sold only as a research chemical, so every mechanism, dose and effect statement below is speculative and reference-only.

Safety
Side effects, stop signs, contraindications
Side effects · 5
- Overstimulation, irritability and insomnia, as a presumed class effect (not measured)
- Headache, commonly associated with racetams, may relate to choline depletion
- Unknown safety profile: no dedicated human toxicology or adverse-effect data exist
- Unpredictable purity: as a research chemical, contamination and mislabeling are real risks
- Anecdotal reports describe effects as often subtle or minimal, which may tempt higher, riskier dosing
Contraindications · 5
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding: no safety data, should be avoided
- Human consumption in general: not an approved medicine, intended for research use only
- Hepatic or renal impairment: unknown metabolism and clearance, caution
- Competitive athletes: the parent is WADA-prohibited and the analog may fall under the similar-structure clause
- Epilepsy / seizure threshold: although anticonvulsant in animals, uncharacterized in humans, medical supervision advised
